Workplace wellness may be one of the most savvy business investments an employer can make.
When it comes to effectively utilizing a health risk appraisal within your organization, the entire process really boils down to one thing: Choosing the right Health Program.
If you make the right choice, you're on easy street. If you make the wrong choice, your problems are just beginning.
Employers can reinforce good employee health by sponsoring healthy lifestyle choices. These encourage such behavior as smoking cessation, healthy eating and body movement.
Stress also is a big issue, it's everywhere. It dogs us at work, it plagues us at home, it travels with us on the road, it shares our relationships. Ironically, it even sleeps with us.
Worksite wellness is booming and the idea of implementing results-oriented wellness programs is finally resonating with business leaders.
This is why enarji has designed a Corporate Program that not only promotes holistic employee health but is at the forefront of Health here in Australia and is called Health At Every Size.
The Health At Every Size Program
The Health At Every Size Program is a 12 session Program about healthy living, designed to support individuals as they take their focus away from disliking themselves and fighting their body to learning to appreciate themselves, their body and their quality of life. It is designed to help individuals to stop using the weight-loss mentality and accept their body and beauty within.
Health At Every Size is not speculation or unproven theory. It’s based on a scientifically tested program. The program was evaluated through a government funded academic study, its data published in well-respected scientific journals.*
Health At Every Size promotes that an appropriate “healthy weight” for an individual cannot be determined by the numbers on a scale or by an ideal height/weight chart or by using the Body Mass Index (BMI) or body fat percentages. Rather, Health At Every Size defines a “healthy weight” as the weight at which a person settles as they move towards a more fulfilling and meaningful lifestyle – a lifestyle that includes eating in an unrestrained manner guided by internal cues and participating in enjoyable, reasonable and sustainable levels of physical activity.
The basic conceptual framework of the Health At Every Size philosophy includes the belief in:
1) The natural diversity of body shape and size
2) The ineffectiveness and dangers of dieting
3) The importance of relaxed eating in response to internal body cues
4) The critical contribution of social, emotional and spiritual as well as physical factors to health and happiness.
The major components of Health At Every Size are;
Self-Acceptance
Affirmation and reinforcement of human beauty and worth irrespective of differences in
weight, physical size and shape.
Physical Activity
Support for increasing social, pleasure-based movement for enjoyment and enhanced
quality of life.
Normalized Eating
Support for discarding externally imposed rules and regimens for eating and attaining a more peaceful relationship with food by relearning to eat in response to physiological
hunger and fullness cues.
